The ground floor of the farmhouse was originally an independent apartment, and the aim was to reconnect it with the rest of the house.
The space was therefore redesigned to create a more efficient circulation flow and redistribute the rooms while modernising the overall layout.The entrance was clad in reclaimed wood, and the space under the staircase was enclosed to create additional storage.
Where the former apartment’s kitchen and dining area were located, a bedroom with its own shower room was created. The living room was reduced to a TV lounge, while the children’s bedroom was enlarged.

All existing bathrooms were redesigned and modified. Bathtubs were replaced with walk-in showers in both spaces. Wall tiles and floor tiling were updated. Custom-made vanity units in reclaimed wood were installed.

As the original cellar wall was made of stone, it was decided to expose it and leave it visible as a decorative feature.

Despite the low ceiling height, all ceilings were clad in reclaimed wood to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. The walls throughout the rooms were finished with fine plaster to reflect the rustic character of the farmhouse.

The children’s bedroom was enlarged, allowing the bunk beds to be separated into individual beds. A bespoke reclaimed wood headboard was designed to conceal the water inlets and outlets from the bathroom located directly behind.

The former bread oven, previously converted into a sauna by the former owner, was transformed into a bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The sauna door was replaced with a glazed door opening onto the garden and a small terrace. The space features reclaimed wood cladding and stone-effect floor tiles. A custom storage bed was designed to integrate drawers into this compact space.
